I had the A-8 suited and went all-in when short-stacked in an attempt to steal the blinds, but got called. Was still ahead on percentages pre-flop, but then the flop went 7-Q-2-Q-A. Would've been a nice hand to win with, if it was me who got the poker.
It certainly is poker we were playing. But I'm curious, how does this prove you know nothing about poker...? And is it the post itself or my previous (very poker-lingo-heavy) comment that confused you? :-)
In 7-card Texas Hold Em, everyone gets two cards, then there's a round of betting. Then the three cards are dealt face up in the middle of the table (this is called the flop) and there's another round of betting. Then a fourth (or turn) card is dealt, with another round of betting, and then the final (or river) card is dealt, with another round of betting. This is a very basic explanation though, for more have a look here.
The 7-Q-2-Q-A bit referred to the order in which the flop, turn and river were dealt.
Apparently Ian may have someone he can learn how to play poker from then...? My friend Richie taught his missus how to play poker, and then she kicked his ass one night and he hasn't played her since!

Well that proves that then. I officially know nothing about poker.
It is poker you were playing right?

What's a flop? 7-Q-2-Q-A lost me too.
With the online thing booming over the last few years Poker is really growing in the mainstream. I should probably learn to play.
Anyone for betting matchsticks?

He hasn't 'played' her since... sheesh - a man's ego gets knocked and the next thing he's withholding on the nookie? :)
Was actually being ironic Matt - sadly, I'm just as clueless on the poker front. This may be the month, though...
