Seasonal Allergic Rhinitis
My nose is a funny thing at the best of times. Not funny as in ha-ha, funny as in weird and annoying. There only ever seems to be one nostril functioning within established parameters (apart from when I breathe out through my nose under water, for some reason), and it goes between dry and crusty to wet and watery in a seemingly random pattern. I have to always, always have tissues or a handkerchief on or about my person, and dust of the type that hides in corners of rooms and in ducts and air-vents is the nemesis of my sinuses. And then, when the weather becomes beautiful and all the lovely people are having a fabulous time in the lazy, hazy sunshine, hay fever descends into my nasal cavity like I don't know what.
Those of you who do not suffer from this seasonal affliction have no idea what it's like to blow several pints of water snot out of your face in a matter of a few hours, to tear at your eyelids like someone has blown a handful of freshly ground black pepper in your peepers, to have that gnawing stuffy headache and dry coughy throat constantly reminding you that you're allergic to fucking summer, and as you have no idea what it means, I hate you (except you Nikki, you're exempt). I'm taking these New Era Tissue Salts, as I'm all homeopathic-ey about this sort of thing, and have a profound dislike of anti-histamines, which are worse than the original affliction ('hey! you've no hay-fever! Cool!' - 'yes, but now I have no snot at all, and I believe that's not quite right either...?'). They seem to be doing some sort of job, but the hard thing to remember about taking homeopathic medicines is that less is more.
In other (GOOD!) news, I met the surveyor at our house today, and it's finished. FINISHED! It looks pretty immaculate, and barring a few tiny niggley things that were to be fixed this afternoon, we should be getting the keys and handing over a chaque worth a small fortune sometime towards the middle of next week. WOO-HOO! (More news will follow as I hear it...)

LOL - great post, sorry to hear you're allergic to summer!
I've started to cough a lot when outside these days, I think it may be the start of allergies (a really dry hard cough) and so I feel your pain, somewhat.
Perhaps if you buy big body-size clear plastic bubbles in bulk they give you discount...

began to have this problem last summer, the dry itchy eyes, cough, and stuffy headache.
Thanks for the tip on homeopathic remedies. Another I've been given recently is lots of green tea with honey, plus two dessertspoons of honey take x 2 daily, morn and eve.

Nat- I sometimes get the dry coughy thing, but mostly it's a cascade of snot and eyes that feel like they're full of sand. And unfortunately I only need one plastic bubble, so the bulk discount is of no use to me (incidentally, that reminds me of a Jake Gyllenhaal movie called Bubble Boy, have you seen it? It's very weird...).
Aine, that's hay-fever alright. A great one (thought slightly painful) is a teaspoon of cayenne papper in a glass of water, it kinda gets rid of your sinuses for a while. Or if it's really bad, give Séan Boylan a shout. In addition to being ex-Meath County football manager, he's also a wizard herbalist. I took his stuff when I was younger, and although it tasted like wee, it got rid of my hay-fever for about 3 or 4 years.

I am sending you squeezy marmite - maybe taken in large doses it will clear your sinuses.
(PS where do you want it, old address or new?)

Mmmm... Squeezy... Well, Marmite contains large amounts of B Vitamins, so either way I'm sure it'll do me good.
Err... Best send it to my old address, although we'll be getting the keys to the new place next week, we won't be moving in for a while. I'll probably have to collect it from the post office either way, as it won't fit through the letter box (unless it's really squeezy). Ta a million Annie! Much love.

Havn't seen the Bubble Boy movie, although as head cheerleader for the Deptford Jake Gyllenhaal fanclub I am quite embarrassed at this!
Amazed that Annie found squeezy Marmite, it's nowhere to be seen in SE London.

If you are indeed head cheerleader for the Jake Gyllenhaal fanclub, you may not be overly enamoured by Bubble Boy, as he's a bit of a dorky nerd in it. It's quite funny in parts, but overall it's just very weird.
Maybe we can start some kind of 'Marmite Watch™', reporting all locations where squeezy marmite has been spotted, or something? I may need some help with this...
