We're In (finally).
Last night, 8 months after deciding to go for it, Nikki and Myself finally moved into our new house. Hooray!
I had intended to post last night about it, but when I turned on the laptop all I got was 'the LAN connection has limited or no connectivity' or some such jazz, and after spending half an hour trying to get it to work I came to the conclusion that it was bedtime, and I really couldn't be arsed.
So, yay for us! Even though the place is in a absolute state, with wiring visible in walls I have yet to plasterboard over, kitchen units sitting unsupported on the floor, no tiling or carpets done, bags, boxes and pieces of un-put-back-together furniture lying around everywhere, we are home, in a house that is ours.
Invitations for whatever house-warming events we will have will be announced when the aforementioned wiring, walls, bags, boxes, tiling and carpets have been sorted, tidied, finished, and painted.

Yay! I am so proud of you brother dear! Let me know when the spare room is ready and I will bring my stuff over!! :P Only me left to get on the wonderful property ladder! (Groan!)

Groan indeed. It's a fecker alright, but keep an eye out, if you can get a 100%-er and get your foot on the ladder, especially at your age, when you're my age you'll be fucking sorted.
Example: My mate Neil got an apartment for half nowt when he was 18, and sold his 3-bed in Killiney last year for ?750k. The earlier you get your foot in, the more time you have to gain.
Plus, you could always do the thing on the ad and say 'Dad, I need twenty grand'. :-P

Ahhh booooo Babs....are you not proud of me too??
Sob, Wail, Sob and all that.

Yeah do you really think that SuperDad is going to just "give" me 20 grand?? I am allowed to build an Eco House in the garden apparently though! Woo! :P

Also, I am VERY proud of Nikki!! Go Nikki, isn't she the greatest!! (He ain't heavy) he's my brother and all that jazz and is normally useless at doing stuff like that, I mean, he's six and a half years older than me and I moved out for good before him! WTF?? :) Raspberries to you Matt!

Ok. Am suitably mollified (don't you just LOVE that word).
You are allowed to come visit with cakes again.

An Eco house in the Garden?! Cool-é-sin.
Also: Feckoff.
The cakes, don't forget about the cakes... Mmmm... Cakes...

I will bake the cookies again, I am being MADE by Conor (my roomdawg) anyway! Yesterday while I was getting ready to go to his gig I heard a roar "Sarah, SARAAAAAAH" So I ran downstairs in my "towel dress" thinking somehthing terrible had happened, and I see him milling into said cookies, and I said "what?" and was given "These cookies are amazing man!!" I was quite surprised at the reaction but none the less, happy! Pity I was in my towel dress though! :P

Congratulations! There is no better feeling that having your own place. (Well, maybe there is but that's another discussion entirely) Enjoy!

I just want to say congrats to you both as well! Woo hoo to you two!!
PS our house cost £88,000 to build (7 years ago) and now is worth about ?800,000. Excellent or what?
Did you get any more cards? (mind you none could be better than ours...OUR HOUSE.... IN THE MIDDLE OF OUR STREET!!

Congratulations!
There is nothing else like
owning your own "castle".
It's the best savings account you can have.

I do believe Rebecca has got the best return on her (their, her and my bro-in-law) investment of anyone I know. Then again, they did get an acre and three quarters for FREE, the feckers.
Annie, MArie, cheers! Nice one.

Yay! Congrats! Shall I send over a nice scented candle?
Posted by: Calista | July 5, 2006 5:00 PM
That's the first practical house-warming gift suggestion I've heard so far.
Yes! A scented candle would be stupendously good. It will get rid of all the building-work smells, like glue and plaster, at any rate. Tanx!
Posted by: Matt | July 5, 2006 5:09 PM
What's your favorite stench?
Posted by: Calista | July 6, 2006 3:57 AM
Fress cut grass in September, why? :-)
(I dunno, lavendar? Sandalwood? Summat homely-ish?)
Posted by: Matt | July 6, 2006 6:26 PM
Thank the lord he didnt say marmite....
Posted by: NKL | July 6, 2006 6:29 PM
Can you GET Marmite-scented candles?! The would be SO COOL. I must have one.
Posted by: Matt | July 6, 2006 6:49 PM
I wonder if a Big Sur hippie could make one...hmmmm....this could be a quest.
Can't find one just yet, but there are these:
jerseys
Not implying of course that you are a dull man.
Posted by: Calista | July 7, 2006 12:21 AM
Oh my god, I must have one of those marmite shirts! MMM!! Marmitey, I think that if I was to have a Marmite flavoured candle I would be dead fat cause the smell of it always makes me hungry!!
Posted by: Babs | July 7, 2006 8:46 AM
I would not describe myself as a dull man, but neither am I a cycling man.
Nice find though!
