And The Rain Came Splashing
Well, there goes the summer. Although Autumn officially started in Ireland two weeks ago (according to Wikipedia and the Irish Calendar), I hope to God The Flying Spaghetti Monster that this isn't the end of the sunshine and warmth I've grown so used to over the past month or two. Just in case though, I would advise Adrian and Annie to bring their waterproofs when they come over for the FOWC in a couple of weeks. Similarily I would advise Nat and Ian to bring their wellies and jackets when they visit Dublin (whenever that may be), even (nay especially) if the weather forecast says the weather will be amazing.
It has been an abnormally err... summery... summer, but the misery that is evident when I look out my office window kinda gets me down a wee bit and makes me forget just how great Global Warming has been to us this summer*. Even though I know it's great for the plants and crops and flowers and trees and all that (which is like, great, an' all), it still makes me yearn for blue skies and sunshine. And above all, less wetness. I think Global Warming means more rain when it does rain too, though (Wikipedia didn't help a lot on this one)?
I suppose I should be happy that I have a window, really.

Ah, the rain. Sorry you're getting rained on, but otherwise glad because it would mess with my preconceptions about Ireland were the sun to shine...
Still, hurray for global warming hey? (though it's of course a Bad Bad thing.)

the rain is both good and bad for me, good, because it means my car is washed for free, and that there is a lovely clean fresh smell in the air, bad, because I am a girl of the "fuzzy when wet" variety and I have a fringe and when it rains it goes all doolally and curly fringes is not a good look. Other than that I love it cause I can then particpate in my fav pastime - jumping in puddles, seriously, its LOTS of fun, and, you feel 3 years old again (*note: Do NOT under any circumstances wear footwear of the Converse variety when jumping into said puddles, they ain't waterproof)

Oh yeah, dudes (and dudettes), it might also be a good idea to bring a pair of wellies. If you want to indulge yourself in some puddle-jumping, as Babs suggests.
Have a look at funky-wellington-boots.co.uk.

Wellies? Are you serious?

There may or may not be a need for each of the following items:
Sunglasses
Shorts/skirts
Suncream
Sandals
T-shirts
Raincoat
Wellies
Umbrella
Warm clothes
Basically, pack for all weather possibilities.

Girls rules for handbag contents in Ireland:
Always carry the following items: sunglasses, an umbrella, and a tub of vaseline to prevent windburn/chapped skin from the imminent wind chill factor. They are my rules anyway

I'm dreading Adrian's response when he reads the line "and a tub of vaseline".
Ot Gordon's for that matter.

it's for my lips, cause they are big, unlike most Irish peoples scouldy thin lips, so I need Vaseline when it gets cold, plus I dont use any other lip cack like gloss, or lipstick or any of that jazz, its crap and makes the chapping worse and is made of fish scales or something worse!!
