RIP The Crocodile Hunter

Steve Irwin, the eponymous "Crocodile Hunter", has died in a marine accident while filming an underwater documentary off the coast of Australia.

I know some people thought he was annoying and a bit of an idiot, and his famous "holding the baby while feeding a crocodile" incident didn't go down too well with the masses, but he was basically a good guy, in my opinion, who did a lot for conservation and animal welfare during his lifetime, and his constant, boundless enthusiasm for what he was doing was always entertaining.

Rest in peace, Steve, we'll miss ya.

UPDATE: It seems that the news of poor Steve's demise was quite popular, to the extent that it completely trashed many website's bandwidth, including most of the big Australian news sites, and the crocodilehunter.com site I mentioned above. Steve was a popular guy.

I concur. He was a bit annoying always shouting 'crikey' and stuff but he was a good guy and very enthusiastic. His poor wife and kids.I'll miss him too. RIP Steve.

CROIKEY!

BEEEEEAUTY!!!

As someone just said to me, at least he died doing what he loved. Poor auld Stevo.

(sniffle)

I thought it was a hoax, when I heard it first. At least it was while doing something that he loved, but still, bad blood man, poor Terri. I will always remember the Steve Irwin dolls that talked "poised and ready to strike" was a catchphrase of mine for a while. RIP Stevo

I cried when I heard of what happened to Steve.
With his boyish looks and enthusiastic energy he has us all focused at the TV. Wondering what he would do or say next.
Funny, when he would smile. You would find yourself smiling back. Just because he was so goofy and fun.

He was such a fire ball of energy. He has so much passion, loyalty and commitment in his work, family and friends. He shows compassion towards humans and animals. Compassion seems to be second nature to him.
He will clearly be missed.

I hope people have learned off his life and all he showed us. I hope it is carried on. We keep showing care, concerns, compassion for animals and humans and we get envolved and educated.

My prays goes out to Terry his wife, Bindy, his daughter whom is a fire ball like her dad. Bob his son (little Steve ), family, friends, co-workers, and all the animals he so loved.

There may only be one Steve Erwin but I hope there will be many more who will follow in his footsteps he started for us. With a fire and passion for wild life.

I presume you mean Steve Irwin, but I agree with everything you say.

If we could all love and enjoy our work and approach it the way he did, wouldn't we all be amazingly happy and wouldn't the world be a much more amazing place?

And wouldn't we all say "CROOOOIKEY!!!" a bit more too. And mean it.

God Bless Steve, wherever you are. BUT...If all I have personal experience of and believe to be true, I think that, right now, you'll be recovering from your unexpected passing from this sphere. Although, I know that you will embrace where you are now with the words "Crikey, what a beauty" when you see that there is no longer hurt or pain for humans or animals; no more avoiding the animals that you told us were dangerous; because on your plane, they walk along side you. The sun shines always, because there is no rain. Everyone is happy, because there is no sadness. Be happy, Steve, in the knowledge that you will be reunited with Terri, Bindi and little Bob someday, nomatter what their lives hold. You were are good man; and you will always be remembered in this life for your love of preserving nature, and the love of your family; and although they will not know that you are there, I am sure that you will always watch over your family. Once again, God Bless, Steve. xxx
