Welcome To The Lifewithouttoastcast!
Well, ladiesngentlemen, here we are.

Hiphop, rah! I keep losing my connection. Bah. But what I've listened to so far is mighty fine...

Great Annie! Cheers. This one (first of hopefully many!) is quite hip-hoppy alright.
Now, all I need is for one more person to download it and I'll have exceeded all my expectations. :-)

I actually laughed out loud on the train while listening to your podcast. Keep them coming!!

I'm downloading it now AND listening to it streaming because I couldn't wait for it to download. I'm up the Bush bit- pretty funny! I'll report back when I'm done. Nice one.

Lovely Match!! I must say, listened to it on Friday night when I got home from saying bye byes to Neal, it cheered me up somewhat, meant to comment then but forgot and my hands were cold from sitting there for so long, I want to do one tooooooooo!!!!

Just finished! Great stuff, very good. The 9/11 thing was pretty hilarious, I thought.
Okay I am going to win the prize. The link between the two mashups is...
The latter song Don't Fear the Reaper was covered by Tenacious D...a band containing Jack Black...who was 'The Jackal' with David Hayman, who was in 'Where the Truth Lies' with Kevin Bacon, who was in 'In the Cut' with Vinny Vella, who was in 'Coffee and Cigarettes' with Jack White, who sang the famous "Danger! Danger! High Voltage!" line from the song of the same name by Electric Six, who of course sing the former song: Gay Bar.
I win! Thank you, come again.

Thanks everyone for all your lovely compliments, but thank the fantastic Andy too, without whom there would have been a lot more dead air and "umms" and "aaahs", and not half as much fun. This one was such a good experience, we're already started planning version 2.0.
Dan, that is, in fact, NOT the link between the two songs. There is no "Kevin Bacon" link in this one! The actual link is both far more direct and far more tenuous at the same time. No toast n' Marmite for you, my friend. Keep tryin' though! :-)
Posted by: Matt | October 9, 2006 12:33 PM
And Babs, you can totally be on the next one, the more the merrier! :-)
Posted by: Matt | October 9, 2006 12:33 PM
Not sure on the choice of music but then I am boring.....but laughed at the two of you lots (I mean laughed with ye of course!)
Posted by: NKL | October 9, 2006 2:00 PM
You're not boring Nikki! I wouldn't love ya if you were boring, would I? I'm just all warm and fuzzy that you actually listened to it. Tanx! :-)
Posted by: Matt | October 9, 2006 4:39 PM
(ahem!) Vomit!! hahahahaha!!!
Posted by: Babs | October 9, 2006 4:42 PM
No-one ever said this blog was a vomitously lovey-dovey- free zone. :-)
Anyhoo Babs, I'm knackered. It's your turn to post something.
Posted by: Matt | October 9, 2006 4:45 PM
Dan, that is, in fact, NOT the link between the two songs.
Whatever! You keep changing the link to avoid giving me da prize.
Posted by: Destructor | October 10, 2006 10:41 AM
If you don't guess the link my the time the next podcast comes out, I'll tell everyone the answer in the 'cast. And tell them your guesses too, in case they haven't read the comments. Just to make you look (sound?) silly like. :-P
(seriously, it's really obvious. And Nikki, you're NOT ALLOWED tell them what it is...)
Posted by: Matt | October 10, 2006 11:04 AM
the link on the podcast is NOT obvious at all.its actually quite abstract or tenuous as u said youself matt.
hint, think"police academy" and youre on the right track.
good look everybody,
Andy
Posted by: andy | October 10, 2006 4:59 PM
Like, way to give the game away dude. It's abstract and tenuous, ok, but not so obvious if you don't give HUGE clues like that one. :-P
If anyone doesn't guess it now they're a moron.
Posted by: Matt | October 10, 2006 5:14 PM
Great stuff... but you need more cowbell...

Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper. Awesome.
Posted by: SharkyUK | October 10, 2006 9:57 PM
Yeah, but did you get the tenuous link? Anyone? There's tasty toast and Marmite for you if you do?!
Cowbell and other percussive instruments will be present in vol. 2. We only had a bondo and a squeaking back-scratcher for this one, unfortunalment.
Posted by: Matt | October 10, 2006 10:59 PM
I look forward to Vol. 2 and will listen to the first one again later... Must find the link and then savour that toast and Marmite.
This is quite a big ask but can you please lose the accent as the girlies here dig it and I'm very jealous... :-)
Posted by: SharkyUK | October 11, 2006 11:25 AM
There's a clue in the comments about the tenuous link. It's fairly obvious if you have even a passing knowledge of pop culture of the 80's.
Losing the accent is, unfortunately, not an option. Just tell the girlies we're both (myself and Andy that is) very much taken. :-)

not by each other i hasten 2 add!!!
Posted by: andy | October 21, 2006 5:06 PM

also the mix thing and interjection thing.
HOLD ON PEOPLE we r on our way with an updated and even better(hopefully)podcast and this time its not all hip hop just real HIP!!!
Posted by: andy | October 22, 2006 5:05 PM
Like, SURE. I've totally started work on them. I really need to get that tracklist off you though. I will have Wednesday-Friday off next week so I'll do it then. Or rather, WE'LL do it then.
Err... The podcast I mean.

So very good, and made the gym session less about pain and more about ... well it was less about pain.
The music was a bit to rappy for my liking (gack, NKL and me agreeing on music, whatever next), but that's person taste.
Few other technical comments. Try keep the mic level constant. Sometimes your voices where louder than the music, sometimes softer. Quite hard to change volume on the iPod when you are pushing 50+ kgs.
No sweet sucking (that was good) but keep your mobile away from the recording equipment (it made a noise when Babs texted you)?
Otherwise good podcast, and I'll sort out your technical itunes issues at some point. Promise.
Posted by: Adrian | November 27, 2006 10:48 AM
Dude, thanks for listening. Technical comments welcome, and we have a different mic setup for the next one, so it should be more consistent.
That said, I think there were several points when it was supposed to be louder.
Now, I just have to get Andy to get his finger out of his hole and we can get down to recording "Part Deux".
Posted by: Matt | November 27, 2006 11:04 AM
The less imagery I have of Andy's finger and his hole the better.
