Alone (sniffle...)

Nikki's gone away for a week and a half. To Fargo, North Dakota, of all places. Yes, THAT Fargo. The one from the Coen Brothers film. She's doing something for Microsoft involving merging several different software programs into one (Microsoft having bought several different software companies that do the same thing).

It's weird, y'know. When we started going out, she was involved in moving some MS call centre from Reno, Nevada to Dublin. She was away a LOT (in Reno), but it was happening from when we started seeing each other, so it was like, normal.

Now, she hasn't been away working on a project for over two years. We haven't been apart for this long during that whole time. It's a bit weird, but knowing we won't see each other again until Thursday week, makes me feel all sad (I'm a big sap, I know). I mean, I know we'll talk on the phone, IM, email each other (and she'll almost definitely comment on this post in the morning (or afternoon, my time), but it's still not the same as chatting over dinner, and it's definitely not the same as sleeping beside her at night.

What's wrong with me?! It must be this love thing, I still haven't quite got my head around the swings from euphoria to utter dejection that can come about during the normal course of a committed relationship. And I better get used to it, as she's going to Singapore for a few days at the start of next month, and then back to Fargo again a few days after that, for Pete's sake.

[ps Love you Nikki, xoxoxo]

Aw that is so sweet, but a tad weird, but only cause you are my brother. Nikki I love you too!! x

I am sure Laura can recommend a support group for partners abandoned due to business...

Ah it's not that weird now Babs, is it? Thank you (err... I think?) for saying that it was sweet. :-)

Seamus, I shall be getting in touch with Laura about said support group.

Oh, and might I add: Fuck business, yeah? Fuck it right in the ear.

It's not THAT wierd, just that I have never heard you say these words before. Ew!

Welcome to life married to a constant. I know some people who only see their partners on the weekend.

Have you ever thought NKL engineered this project to mayby get away from you for a few days. ;) Heh hee. Just saying.

(boy is Nikki going to hit me for that one)

Sure why don't you come out and visit us in Gtown and take the baby from me for an hour (so I can have a shower or something haha)!

Adrian, I would totally wear a helmet the next time you see Nikki if I was you. :-)

Rebecca, that could very well be a plan. I might come out on Thursday evening, or Friday morning. Deadly buzz.

Ooh if you are going out to her, give her smooooooooches from me, she's after getting HUGE!!!

WAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHh.....now I feel WORSE and BETTER all at the same time! Sniffle.

Just had dinner where I ordered a salad trying to be healthy. There were no less than EIGHT SLICES OF GARLIC BREAD served with the salad. I prefer Matthews cooking. And his company. Naturally.

Adrian. Make. That. A. HUGE. HELMET.

Hello Matt,

I feel your pain :)

But, when she cmes home, it will be all the more sweet!

Absence makes the heart grow fonder.

The hubster is in Iraq for his second year in 4 years. Yeah, it definitely is great to see him after that!

Enjoy some alone time and look forward to you reunion :)
