Apologies!
Sorry It's been a little bit quiet round here. On top of the fact that Babs can't access the internet where she works at the moment, and has therefore not been able to fire off any of those brilliant middle-of-the-day random stream of consciousness posts that she's so brilliant at, I've been like, busy.
Thanks to everyone again for all those birthday wishes. Thanks for the cards, presents, texts and mails. Thanks to everyone who came to the party. Thanks to everyone who ensured I didn't actually reach into my pocket once that night, and for ensuring that I got thoroughly plastered, and was the recipient of the most ferocious hangover since the last one I had at Christmas, after the staff party in work with the free bar until 7am. It's weird just turning 30, in that it's exactly the same as being nearly 30.
Then, still suffering from the same hangover (I'm 30 now you know, they last longer at my age), for the past two days, I've been working. And going to the last couple of days of my college course. On Monday I was in work at 8am, and in college at half 9. And in work from 4pm until 11.30. And then, roughly the same again today. And then a normal "rest of the week".
I am BOLLIXED. And I have so much to do.
See, I have these new TOYS!
I have my MacBook Pro. It's very, very lovely. It has batteries, and they last a long time. It's very ergonomic. It's very powerful. There's so much I can do with it. I just installed QuickSilver, and I got the feeling very quickly that it's going to blow my mind. I have a boxed copy of Windows Vista Ultimate That I plan on installing on it. There's just so much I can DO with this new toy. But apart form these things, it's just so, so brilliant to use. I will use Windows (the very latest version, and the best version of that) for a few things if I need to. The lack of a decent, free Mac program to stitch together the occasional panoramic photograph is a big loss for me. And I haven't done a podcast on it yet either! But apart from that, it's just so amazing in so many ways (as a computer, I'm not going to marry it or anything like, Nikki).
Speaking of photographs (and Nikki), Nikki (very, very kindly) got me a Nikon D40 for my birthday. It's very, very nice, and my very first SLR. I can't wait to give it a good seeing to thorough going over go with the nice picture-taking. I haven't really had the chance to play with it that much, but let's just say I'm hoping for either a bit of hazy sunshine, or a spectacular storm this weekend. It's gonna be fun.
Seriously though, is anyone else mssing the Babs posts?

Congrats again, and sorry I couldn't make it.
Enjoy the SLR. You are going to need a bigger hard disk now. I know I did once I started to get shot happy :-)

And thanks NKL for the wonderful cake. (Bow, applause, shake hands, NKL IS BRILLIANT)
I think I should from now on buy non interactive, static presents that cannot take your attention away from me. Perhaps socks?

Socks are always good. You can never have enough socks. You can, however, have too many.
Unlike gadgets.

Calling Babs posts "random stream of consciousness" is a little like calling a Lockheed Blackhawk "quite fast".
;)

Oh yeah and happy birthday too. Sorry I couldn't make it.

Leave me ALONE Adrian, I talk fast, I discovered why a long time ago, also, my brain works faster than normal humans, good quote from a not so good "artist" called 50 (fiddy) cent, goes a little bit like this "you say I talk too fast, but maybe if you listened a little quicker I wouldn't have to slow down for you to catch up (bitch)". I like it, you can leave out the "bitch" part if you want though. Also BABS posts will be back next week, the IT dept in work finally got their arses in motion so we shall have internet up and running, awoohoo!!

I'm sure I speak for everyone who reads this blog when I say I have no problems at all with you calling Adrian a bitch.
And also YAY! Internet. That means more Babs posts.

Yay - yeah I know!! Woooohooooo!!! It was something to do with security, and cables I think, I am actually not sure, training past two days so actually don't mind looking at screen when I get home, training is bizarro, but not boring, wierd!

Actually never said you talked to fast. :)
And I can listen plenty fast.
Posted by: Adrian | May 23, 2007 11:01 AM
Bets you can't listen fast enough!! :) Learned in work today that when reading for other peoples listening purposes I read approx 195 words per minute, newsreaders read at approx 150-160 words per minute, I tried this and I felt it made me sound like I had brainial issues, but hey, I like to talk fast, more information in less time = A Happy Babso
