Stuff

I'm learning that waiting for something to inspire you to write something interesting doesn't really work, as sometimes you will go through periods of no inspiration, and then you're pretty much fucked.

So I'm just going to prattle on about stuff instead.

I've been busy! In work, mostly. Thankfully the community festival is finished. For those of you unfamiliar with the differences between professional and amateur theatre, it goes like this: Professional theatre practitioners know what they are doing, to a point, whereas amateurs are amateurs, and they haven't a clue. That said, working with the group from Inchicore College was fun, as they had a clue, and were willing and eager to learn, and I love teaching to inquisitive minds. Someday I get the feeling I will be involved in teaching to some capacity... Anyhoo, the amateur shows are finished now, and my weeks have gone from 60+ hours to a more manageable 35-40-ish.

Apart from that, I've mostly been watching Battlestar Galactice on DVD, again. On repeated viewings, some of the loose plot threads that I picked up on while watching season three (which is not out on DVD yet) actually make more sense. And the way the fourth wall came crashing down for Dan when "All Along The Watchtower" started playing at the end of the last episode of season three was pretty much negated for me when Starbuck was driving around on Caprica in her Hummer, and the way there was a Citroen DS in the basement of the café the resistance blew up. Fourth wall my ass (cue much shouting from the Danzor).

This weekend, myself and herself went out to my parents on Saturday, got fed (although we were already stuffed from having lunch in Queen of Tarts), and went down to see how my baby niece was doing. She is getting HUGE and so alert and full of energy and inquisitiveness. I have some fab photos of her that I will be uploading to Flickr tonight, and a few that I want to squeeze through Claire's black-and-white conversion technique (which will be hard without Photoshop). Maybe converting them in-camera might be the best bet. We left my Mam and Dads' yesterday afternoon, inspired by my Mams' flourishing garden to go to a garden centre to buy some plantage for our balconies. Woodies was the answer, and we did rather well.

In other news, me and Nikki are going to Alaska in three weeks, just in case there's anybody out there who I haven't bragged that to. I can't fracking wait. Huge bears, landing an aeroplane on a glacier, fjord rafting, etc, etc. Granted, driving like 2,500 miles might be a bit of a bitch, but I reckon it'll be great.

I LOVE QUEEN OF TARTS. It is like Heaven. Except you get fat if you eat there too much. Which Heaven wouldnt allow. Assuming there is a Heaven. And assuming getting fat is a bad thing in heaven. Have. Had. Too. Much. Tea. Today.

I think I need a holiday

Yes, you have had too much tea, and yes, you need a holiday, which is convenient, as we are going on one in a few weeks! To Alaska. As I said above.
