Prehistoric Pines
Well OK not prehistoric but bloody old.
Here's the story...My grandparents went to California in 1994 to visit my grand-uncle Arthur where he lived for the winter months in a 'trailer'. He lived the other months back in Canada in British Columbia or some place like that.... ANYways....

So I am in my aunt and uncles house (Billy and Mary) recently and I see THE pine cone on their windowsill. So I was just playing with it when a few little black seeds fall out. Granny says sure why don't you plant them, I scoffed at her thinking 17 year old seeds? not a chance!
Well I thought I'd see what happened. So I planted 6 seeds 6 weeks ago and this morning I look at the pot and BY JINGO there's a little pine tree growing and another just about to come up!
Have a look!

Doh! I mean 13 year old seeds not 17 year old seeds! Maths was never my strong point!!!

Maths is not my strong point either, maybe it runs in the family or something, its so teeny, you should name the tree I think, just for the larf, you must have inherited Mam and Dads green fingers.

So now there's three of you? Good thing your names are down at the bottom or I'd be thoroughly confuzzled, though Babs posts are easily recognized :-)

That reminds me of a thought I had when first there were two: Matt, could you move the name of the poster up to the top, so we don't have to skip past and back to work out whose it is?

Now there are three, yes!
I would move the names to the top of the posts, but I am currently touring through the Alaskan wilderness (not a metaphor, I really am), and any kind of access to the intertubes has been hard to come by. I will have a look at it when I get back, probably.

Happy travels and I cannot wait to see pictures. If you see a tall, curly haired goddess wearing blue gloves and out counting fishies, that would be my cousin. Do say hello.

Calista, the pictures will peobably number in the thousands, but I'll do my best to sort them out before I Flickr them, hopefully I can keep it down to a couple of hundred. Some of them are very special though.
Seriously though, aren't Becca's ancient pine trees totally awesome? Hopefully they're not mutant American pines that will devour the Irish countryside.

- Reminder to self - must stay on topic. -
Yes! They are! I hope they are nice to the Irish countryside and don't devour Becca's backyard.
