Eircom in "Half-decent advert" Shocker!
So I was browsing one of my favourite sites tonight, and I saw this (it's an ad, and if you hadn't guessed by the "turn on sound" button, it's very NSFW to press the "turn on sound" button).
I was mildly amused. I was also shocked that Eircom have come up with an ad campaign that's mildly amusing, as opposed to "totally pants", the way they usually are. I was even more surprised that it was on a site that wasn't from Ireland, but more a targeted ad for people accessing in Ireland. This means Eircom's advertising department appear to have acquired some sense.
I find that the most shocking bit of all. But I'm still not going to get Eircom Broadband, because although Eircom's service is known to be reliable, that's only because they are a bunch of fucking Nazis.

I sort of hate it. But it is better than that totally retarded one that is on telly with the young fella and the touch screen non monitor talking to his granddad. That actually makes me want to smash my telly!

See that's exactly my point. Any Eircom ad that doesn't make you want to smash whatever medium you're viewing it on is progress.
But Eircom are still Nazis.

That ad makes me want to smash my lappy. Just like it's companion, the one with the aging rocker dude. Please God, no more of their awful ads.
Agree with you Matt on kudos for their smarter targeted marketing strategy.

I think the whole Eirom are Nazis bit is gravely insulting to the Nazis and I fear unintentionally complimentary to Eircom.
The Nazis at least demonstrated competent marketing capabilities.
Eircom's marketing team are a bunch of fuckin morons, even by the average marketing shill's standards.
Eircom managed to take the perfectly decent Telecom Eireann logo and relegate it in favour of the excuse for a bollock they rock today, with a colour scheme that yins that unfortunate, blundering yang.
The Nazis on the other hand took a timeless logo like the swastika, which had been tried and tested for 1000s of year, and made it their own. They also had a killer colour scheme, all packaged up in some pretty effective branding.
Eircom are more like neo-Nazis; foolish, incompetent, uninspired and tasteless.
