[Where we talk mostly about Ebay and stuff]

17:16:16 Stuart: If you're going for a PS3 for April 29th
17:16:26 Stuart: this might be a good bet, as it's a misspelled listing
17:16:34 Stuart: [Ebay PS3 Link]
17:16:47 Stuart: and the starting price is 99c.
17:17:04 Stuart: not many people will look for a playstaion.
17:23:52 Stuart: Feel free to offer a fair amount if you like.
17:26:47 Stuart: You didn't see me, roight?
18:29:28 Matt: cheers!
18:30:07 Stuart: no problem!
18:31:30 Matt: bidding at ?51 now
18:32:14 Stuart: that looks fishy
18:32:26 Matt: fishy?
18:32:27 Stuart: three separate bidders with stars in the middles of their names?
18:32:42 Stuart: yeah the automatic bids that came up when you bid
18:32:43 Matt: true
18:32:58 Stuart: I have a love-hate relationship with eBay
18:33:02 Matt: me too
18:35:19 Stuart: I bought Guitar Hero 2 with a guitar for $22.50
18:35:24 Stuart: shipping....$25
18:35:31 Stuart: Which was fair enough, I thought.
18:35:38 Stuart: But it was a big corporate ebay-company
18:35:46 Stuart: with 140,000 feedback
18:35:52 Stuart: 96% reviews.
18:36:11 Stuart: and the 4% consisted entirely (as I saw after I'd paid) of people being upset about the guitar hero packs
18:36:31 Stuart: new guitars, secondhand, heavily-used, scratched discs
18:36:41 Stuart: happened to me too.
18:36:55 Stuart: I am very  cautious now
18:37:13 Matt: brutal
18:37:46 Stuart: learning curve.
18:37:53 Matt: totally

18:38:05 Stuart: well I'm attempting to get a replacement
18:38:06 Matt: I've had no bad esperiences so far
18:38:24 Stuart: but I have a sneaky suspicion that disc I returned will just go into another guitar-game bundle
18:38:33 Matt: I reckon
18:38:47 Matt: I had the complete opposite happen to me last week
18:38:51 Matt: I bought a drill
18:39:02 Matt: 141 from the UK including postage
18:39:03 Stuart: I saw! Got two drills.
18:39:07 Matt: which was about right
18:39:10 Stuart: OK
18:39:13 Matt: yeah! two drills
18:39:28 Matt: so I bought two more off the same ebay store for work
18:39:40 Matt: and they're sending me a gift of some description
18:39:44 Matt: which is nice
18:39:46 Stuart: That's awesome.
18:39:53 Matt: see that's the other side
18:40:16 Matt: what do you think of all this ebay seller strike malarkey
18:50:38 Stuart: I don't know anything about it
18:50:44 Matt: no?
18:51:19
Matt: they're doing away with seller feedback (that's feedback BY
sellers ABOUT buyers), and all the big sellers are moving to other
auction sites and shit.
18:51:40 Matt: me, I couldn't give a monkeys about seller feedback.
18:51:54 Matt: the only feedback sellers need to give is "I was paid"
18:51:57 Stuart: well of course now I do
18:52:00 Stuart: I jsut read
18:52:01 Stuart: yeah
18:52:03 Stuart: I was worried
18:52:25 Stuart: because this guitar hero seller left bad feedback in retaliation to people complaining about their items
18:52:41 Stuart: I think that's fair.
18:52:50 Matt: what's fair
18:53:15 Stuart: The seller feedback issue.
18:53:22 Stuart: That's all they need to do.
18:53:26
Matt: when I sell something, as soon as I get paid, it's up to me to
make sure the item is sent and received as described
18:54:14 Matt: so as long as I wait to get paid before I send the item, there will never be any problem with any buyer
18:54:22 Matt: unless they're a FUCKING WANKER
18:54:24 Matt:
18:54:54 Stuart: Right
18:54:58 Stuart: And there's a plentiful supply
18:55:10 Stuart: I sold my iMac G3 as pickup only
18:55:17 Stuart: and when the guy came round he said he didn't want it
18:55:35 Matt: see that's a problem all right
18:55:36 Stuart: but he gave me $5 to cover the listing fees
18:55:44 Matt: well like...
18:55:47 Matt: I dunno
18:55:51 Matt: I can see his point
18:55:52 Stuart: I was still narked
18:55:58 Matt: well yeah
18:56:17 Stuart: but...I understood. There was a green-screen tint I mentioned
18:56:31 Stuart: and so he knew but didn't know how bad it was
18:56:34 Stuart: so...meh
18:56:39 Stuart: That's my only attempted sale on eBay
18:57:12 Matt: hmmm
18:57:35 Matt: I try to avoid any pick-ups, only get items delivered
18:57:48 Matt: any only paypal (although that's another can of worms, apparently)
18:57:59 Matt: I've never had any problems with them either
18:58:49 Stuart: They were really good when some guy cancelled his refunded payment to me
18:58:55 Stuart: they comped it
18:59:04 Matt: ool
18:59:07 Matt: cool even
18:59:11 Stuart: yeah.
18:59:14 Matt: see that's what I'm talking about
19:00:04 Matt: it can be really, really good
19:01:15 Matt: anyhoo....
19:01:19 Matt: laters
19:01:27 Matt: I'm totally blogging this
19:10:10 Stuart: ha
19:10:28 Stuart: cheero

Reading that convo was like watching Eduardo's leg break...

Well so long as it wasn't like watching paint dry...

I agree Tug, though it was mildly like watching paint dry too for me. I shall have to up the merriment stakes with something only I have been lost in a pile of boxes and newspaper and more boxes and stuff and more stuff while moving from my house back to the nest!
