Nikki and I are "going out" four years today. Four years in which we have had our ups (mostly) and our downs (pretty much never), bought an amazing house, we've been to several different countries (Italy, Spain, Scotland, Wales, England several times, Fuerteventura, Alaska, and, I'm sure, others I can't think of right now), we've been separated for periods by work (which sucked, and continues to suck, as she is away today when we should be together), we've spent long winter evenings together, been on long walks in the country (not often enough), gotten engaged (woohoo!), gotten a cat, and have recently been planning for our wedding and our future together.

But none of that doing of stuff of going to amazing places would have been half as much fun if we hadn't been doing it together, because being together with someone you love completely and who you know is completely in love with you is the best thing in the world. There's absolutely nothing like it, and if there was, it would definitely be illegal.

Here's to us.

Today, I will be mostly cleaning

Nikki's away for a week and a half, and we're having visitors while she's away. She's been away quite a lot recently with work, so the house isn't in it's usual pristine state. See, normally, I do all the cooking and Nikki does nearly all the cleaning. Very rarely, Nikki will cook and I will clean*. Because we're having visitors (my cousin Ame and her hubby Adam, and their baby Jack) for the weekend, Nikki instructed me to clean the house a bit. But she didn't trust me to follow that vague instruction, so she left me a list.

Now, I dunno what would happen if I were going away and I decided to leave cooking instructions for herself. I'd imagine I'd be going away with a black eye. :-)

* Where "very rarely" means "almost never", especially in the case of me cleaning.

  • Neil Gaiman's put American Gods online for free for a month. Shame it's in a fucking flash-based browser and you can't JUST FUCKING DOWNLOAD IT. Bollocks. But still a "Good Thing", apparently.
