Tampa, Sanibel, and St Augustine, like totally awesome!

Well we are back, and we had a great time. We flew with BA and they were really great. We got the seats, the meals and the basinette (kind of sit up cot thing) that we ordered and there was very little delay etc.

We stayed with Janel and Mort Smith and their kids Braden and Nadia, in their fabulous house in Tampa for the first (overcast) week but it was lovely and sunny anyways. Isobel was so good on the flights, hardly cried at all and took lots of naps. She was referred to by a lady in business class as the 'da da da baby'. haha.
We did a lot of day trips to Tarpon Springs, the Ellenton Outlets (GO Visa credit card), Lowry Park Zoo, Channelside and the Florida Aquarium and Ybor City. Then we headed to Sanibel and Captiva (only we didn't go to Captiva) on the south West Coast. Sanibel is a little Island but it's totally signboard and neon free and it's only 25miles and hour speed limit and it's very quiet and quaint. Very pretty. Then we went to St. Augustine on the Atlantic coast. For America it's gorgeous, really cute little spanish colonial town. We really enjoyed our few days there. God I am even boring myself typing this.

Here are some of the photos. There are too many to upload.

FLORIDA here we come

Well some might say we are mad but we are taking the small girl on a big holiday to Taaaaampa in 5 weeks time (29th September-12 October) We are going to visit our friends Janel and Mort and stay with them and their children in their fabulous house. We haven't seen them in over 2 years and we've never met their daughter Nadia so we are very excited about the whole thing. We'll be celebrating our 5th Wedding Anniversary and also Sean's birthday while we are there.

I sent over Isobel's passport last week and it came back after only 5 working days which I think is probably a miracle, it's SOooooo cute.

We are flying with British Airways so the veggie meals, the baby bassinet and the front seats are all booked. I can't wait.

Will post photos when we come back.

Lazer eye surgery

Well I did it, well half of it, one eye in fact so far. God it's hard to type with only one eye.
I got a heap of money for my maternity benefit and rather than whittering it away (or 'pissing it against the wind' as Sean so nicely put it) I bought a new TV, table and chairs for dining room, and two new eyes!!!

I had been talking about it for years and then two friends got it done and thought it was fab so I took the bull by the horns and went for it. I had the first eye done by LASEK yesterday in the Mater Private Hospital. The procedure itself was over in about 2 mins and wasn't sore but by god was it sore last night. It's very disorientating to only have one eye working and I was dizzy and tired and very emotional but today it's less sore but very watery and hard to open - see pic.

I had a check up this morning and the doc says it's very successful and healing well blah de blah but they leave the contact lense in until Monday (another check up) and then I should be able to see properly.
Can't wait for more pain and blindness on August 10th.

Prehistoric Pines

Well OK not prehistoric but bloody old.

Here's the story...My grandparents went to California in 1994 to visit my grand-uncle Arthur where he lived for the winter months in a 'trailer'. He lived the other months back in Canada in British Columbia or some place like that.... ANYways....

Prehistoric Pines
My Granny is up the mountains in Santa Barbara one day and spots this dinky little pine tree, 8 foot high she said it was. There were two enormous pine cones underneath it so she gave one to her friend and took the other one home with her. End of story you would think.
So I am in my aunt and uncles house (Billy and Mary) recently and I see THE pine cone on their windowsill. So I was just playing with it when a few little black seeds fall out. Granny says sure why don't you plant them, I scoffed at her thinking 17 year old seeds? not a chance!

Well I thought I'd see what happened. So I planted 6 seeds 6 weeks ago and this morning I look at the pot and BY JINGO there's a little pine tree growing and another just about to come up!
Have a look!

Oh Janey How do I do this?

Well eh hello. I am Becca big sister of Matt and Babs. This is my first confession... I mean blog entry. I haven't a clue what I'm doing so this will probably look crap.

Right... well as I said I've never done this before, just following printed instructions from Matt. I'm sitting her in 'the office' in my PJs, hair like a mad woman's shite, eating toast with marmite and listening out for 'gorgeous girl' AKA Isobel who is my 5.5 month old baby who is asleep in my bed upstairs. I have a monitor and unbeknowst (is that a word?) she is listening to Gerry Ryan on the radio so through the monitor I am listening to it.. haha.

Well that's me for now, I'll post something of interest later maybe if I have time.

I'm off to do some house-wifey type things...
Adios!

This blog looks totally, utterly pants in Internet Explorer. So stop making excuses and download Firefox (or even Opera or Safari) right now (unless you already have).
